This is the place to come and talk about different design ideas, bladesmithing techniques, equipment, etc... Do you have Smith experience? If so then share your experiences! If not then feel free to ask questions and learn a few things.

God Bless and let the ideas flow!

I myself have been smithing for almost a decade now. I have messed with a little bit of everything especially pattern welding. I have a fascination for classic Indo and Filo blades and have always enjoyed throwing a modern twist to them to make them more applicable to modern times. Right now I am deep into the design and development of some very nice yet affordable aluminum trainers that are going to be as close to the real thing as possible, minus the sharp edge of course!

Where are you at with this project? We'd love to see what you are up to these days.

These are a couple of blades I have recently worked on.  These are my first attempts to do this with crude and basic tools. However, one is 3.5" blade with a gut hook, 7" overall. The other is the same size, but is double-edged.  The gut hook is currently sold, while the other is still available. Though honestly, I hadn't tried to sell either. My apologies if they dont show.  I'll email them if anyone wishes to see them.

Very much like Elijah, I've got several careers in the making.  Although, yes! I'm working at doing this full time and ditching the whole regular job thing. I have much to learn yet, but I think my initial starting shows some promise that gives me great hope. I've tried to contact Eric the Wonder Child, but am playing phone tag with him, at best. Soon, hopefully, we can make that connection. I'm not quite sure which shift he is working (days or nights), but hopefully it will get sorted.

I have a couple more here too that I wanted to show off.

The first with the wood handle, is what I 'open-carry' and absolutely love it. All of my blades are 1095 High Carbon Steel, hand made, free of mass producing similarities. The kerambit I designed, is not a hair popping sharp, to ensure mass destruction when making your cuts. Of course, it can be sharpened to that specification, but it's my own preference.  Wink

The second is awaiting a buyer at $100. Red Paracord Wrapped Handle (can be any color paracord comes in though), double edged, with a 3.5" blade, 7" overall length. Comes with a kydex custom formed sheath. With Law Enforcement/Military Discount, Cost is $60. The cost does not include shipping.

Thanks,

Aric Fowler
